Weekend Getaway!

Who has the best husband in the world?....I do, I do! Scott told me on Thursday we were going away for the weekend, but I didn't believe him. His selling point was that Sande called and said she was coming for the weekend! He had been hinting that he was going to take me away for some weekend, well that weekend had come! We left Saturday to head up to Soda Springs which is close to Truckee. We ended up heading to Reno to go to Cabela's. We were really excited to see the Cabela's store but were not impressed. I guess once you have been to Bass Pro or Cabela's they are all the same! We didn't even buy anything. We headed to Truckee for lunch and had a great sandwich and coffee at Wild Cheeries! I have given up caffeine for lent, so going to a coffee place was not the best idea but the decaf was really good. After having lunch, we decided to go to our lodge. As you can tell from the pictures there was snow everywhere. It was sunny beautiful day. The Rainbow Lodge, thats where we stayed was an old lodge that is a bed and breakfast. It was nice, really had that cabin feeling to it. Great thing about the lodge was that they had a resturant and bar so we didn't need to drive anymore.

Our room is the upper right side window

Across the lodge along the Yuba River

We decided to go out for a walk which was the best part of the weekend. Snow was everywhere and we decided to hike next to the river. Only thing there was like 6 feet of snow everywhere. As we started walking, I kept slipping into the snow, at one point I was in snow up to my waist. We had a snow ball fight which was awesome because I got these new gloves for Christmas and my hands never got cold, but Scott's did!

Me making a snow angel...the second one of my life!

Look closely and you can see my angel! It looks really perfect!

We hung out at the lodge the rest of the weekend! Drinking a new beer from the people that make Flat Tire, it was some black ale! We had a very nice dinner, both of us had some great steaks. We headed up to our room to watch a movie and then to sleep. We were really excited about getting a good night sleep without the kids but it was the worst! People were so loud and playing music from their cars and dancing right under our window. We didn't get to sleep until midnight! The next day, we had a nice breakfast and headed home!
By the way thank you to our babysitters, Elaine and Sande, this weekend would not have happened if you didn't help us out! Thank you!
Just wanted to thank my awesome husband for a wonderful weekend! We should do it again soon!
